SOME OF THE LORD'S "HANDS" IN XOCHITENCO WARD, LA PERLA STAKE

Hermana Flor - Mother of Esteban Nava Solorio

President Mann and I planned to attend a baptismal service in Chimalhuan - and allowed lots of extra time for bad traffic (which is very common here) arriving very early at Barrio Xochitenco.  Since we were so early, we decided to do a little shopping at a local indoor shopping "mall".  Soon after arriving,  a woman stopped and asked if my husband was a brother in the church.  After he said "yes", she introduced herself and guess what?  It was the mother (Hermana Flor) of the famous, Esteban Nava Solorio, the chef at the CCM!

Esteban Nava Solorio, CCM Chef, Extraordinaire!

All our missionaries adore Esteban because he finds all our Sureste missionaries as soon as they arrive at the CCM and he gives them extra special care, (of course!) because they are coming to his own part of Mexico City - Mision Sureste!  Hna. Flor is just as warm and wonderful as Esteban!

Hna. Flor asked immediately if he had had "comida" (2 pm, main meal of the day), which he hadn't and so she invited us "ahorita" (right now) for comida at her home.  She quickly called home to her daughter-in-law and lunch was ready for us by the time we walked the few blocks to her home!  Such hospitality!!

Just as finished lunch, who should arrive home, but Esteban, (2 1/2 hour one way commute on metro) to direct the baptismal service we had come to attend.  Esteban is one of the best friends our missionaries have.   He is the Xochitenco Ward Mission Leader, where he continues to do a fabulous "work and wonder" in his work as a member missionary!  We love and appreciate all he does!

Hno. Jose Antonio Gonzales, Mexico City Temple Worker

Before we left the mall to go to lunch, this gentleman came up to buy something in Hna. Flor's store.  He is a brother in the ward, and current Temple Worker.  What an inspiration to hear his enthusiastic love for the Gospel!  With a twinkle in his eye, he told us he and his wife joined the church 10 years ago and said they have have experienced many blessings in their lives!  He shared his testimony of obedience:   "When we are obedient, we are blessed!"  He said even though he and his wife do not have jobs and money is scarce, the Lord blesses them to get enough money to get to the temple each week.  He said he doesn't wait for a formal "calling" in the church, but always looks (pointing to the vial of consecrated oil on his key ring) for ways to bless others.  His countenance radiated the love of the Savior!

Each of these people inspired me with their testimonies, love and service: they are some of the Lord's most faithful "hands" in Barrio Xochitenco, Estaca La Perla, Chimalhucan, Mexico!
